As reported by The Guardian, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated at a press conference in Luxembourg that Russia poses a threat to all European countries.
«Let's not be naive. One day this may concern Luxembourg and my country, the Netherlands. Right now we are all safe. We think we are far from Russia, but in reality, we are very close. And considering the latest Russian missile technologies, for example, the difference between Lithuania on the front line and Luxembourg, The Hague, or Madrid is 5-10 minutes. That's how long it takes for this missile to reach these parts of Europe», emphasized the NATO Secretary General.
Rutte identified signs of a hybrid war that the Kremlin is already waging: obstructing the operation of commercial airplanes with potentially catastrophic consequences, an assassination attempt on a major industrialist in one of the NATO member countries, an attack on the national health service in the United Kingdom. «These are not small, insignificant incidents. These are huge incidents that have a huge impact», he noted, adding that all European countries are on the «eastern flank, «regardless of whether you live in London or Tallinn... there is no difference».
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz spoke about Putin even more harshly. «He is a war criminal. He is possibly the most serious war criminal of our time, whom we are now seeing on a large scale», stated Merz in an interview with the channel «Sat.1». He noted that «we simply must clearly know how to deal with war criminals».
