The Supreme Court of Chechnya declared the opposition movement NIYSO 'extremist' for calls for 'hostility and destabilization of the socio-political situation'

2025.10.31

The movement itself stated that they consider the Russian authorities terrorists and occupiers

The administrative lawsuit was filed in court by the prosecutor of the republic, Arsan Adaev, noting that the members of the movement 'call for hostility and destabilization of the socio-political situation'. The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and declared the NIYSO movement an 'extremist' organization.

'We do not see the need to pay special attention to this. We ourselves long ago declared the Russian authorities terrorists and occupiers who must be expelled from our territory', representatives of the movement told 'Kavkaz. Realii'*.

The NIYSO movement (translated from Chechen as equality, justice) appeared in 2022, and its Telegram channel featured posts criticizing Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechen officials, as well as information about the abductions of Chechen residents. Relatives of movement participants were brought to police departments several times.

* Recognized in Russia as a 'foreign agent' and 'undesirable' organization.
