Activist Darya Polyudova, who is serving a sentence for 'creating an extremist community' and 'justifying terrorism,' declared a hunger strike

She already has six reprimands and a disciplinary fine for fabricated reasons, while she is being hindered from communicating with her lawyer

Activist Darya Polyudova, who is serving a 9-year sentence in the Kostroma IK-8 for the 'Left Resistance' case, declared a hunger strike due to pressure from the colony administration, reports 'Open Space.' Since October 21, she has been drinking only water.

According to 'Open Space,' Polyudova is constantly being penalized: she currently has 6 verbal reprimands (three of them from the colony chief) and a disciplinary fine. She was given a new reprimand for 'irresponsible attitude to work' and 'failure to meet work quotas' despite the fact that, according to Darya, the administration itself reduced her production quota in the sewing workshop. Polyudova believes that she is threatened with a SHIZO, and then strict conditions of detention.

Polyudova also reported that her belongings are being stolen and she is being prevented from communicating with her lawyer.

In August, Polyudova's lawyer and relatives reported that another inmate attacked her in the colony, attempting to strangle the activist. In 2024, Polyudova was beaten for criticizing Vladimir Putin and placed in a SHIZO.

Polyudova was first arrested in 2014 on charges of 'incitement to extremism' and 'violation of Russia's territorial integrity.' She was later sentenced to two years in a settlement colony.

In 2017, the activist was released and then created the 'Left Resistance' movement, which positioned itself as 'against capitalist oppressors for all the oppressed, for the power of the working people.'

In January 2020, Polyudova was again sent to a pre-trial detention center due to a post about Chechen commander Shamil Basayev and a video about the shooting at Lubyanka. In 2021, she was sentenced to six years in a colony, and at the end of 2022, the sentence was increased to nine years, adding charges of creating an 'extremist community' and 'justifying terrorism' due to social media posts.
