State Duma Deputy Mikhail Romanov confirmed to «Fontanka» that he was the one who wrote «requests» to the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the performances of the band «StopTime» on the streets of St. Petersburg.
He noted that he sent them before the musicians were detained. «At a meeting on Tuesday, October 14, a colleague approached me and showed a video where teenagers were dancing on the street to songs by foreign agents. He himself is from Crimea and pointed out that the song about Swan Lake was being played opposite Kazan Cathedral, he was very surprised that this was possible. After that, I wrote requests to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee, and also informed the police headquarters about this request and sent them this video,» said Romanov. He also added that he hopes «it won't be limited to just an administrative penalty».
Vocalist Diana Loginova, drummer Vladislav Leontyev, and guitarist Alexander Orlov were placed under administrative arrest, the first two for 13 days, and the third for 12 days. They were accused of organizing an unauthorized event, which resulted in pedestrian movement to the metro being obstructed.
Today it became known that two protocols against Loginova have also been drawn up for «discrediting» the Russian army, which threatens her with criminal prosecution. The basis was the performance on September 26 and October 11 of songs by Monetochka* «You — Soldier» and Noize MC* «Bright Strip», the musicians performed them on the streets of St. Petersburg, and the recordings of the performances spread across the Internet.
* Recognized in Russia as «foreign agents».
