As Paper Kartuli writes, the bill was considered in an expedited manner.
According to the adopted amendments, if a rally participant covers their face with a mask for the first time, brings tear gas, or blocks a road, they can be arrested for up to 15 days. If the organizer of the action does this, the arrest can be up to 20 days.
Participation in an unauthorized action, which the police demanded to stop, will result in administrative arrest for up to 60 days.
The same period is provided for those who bring weapons, pyrotechnics, or dangerous items to the rally.
At the same time, a repeated violation will already be punishable by one year of imprisonment. A third violation will be punished with imprisonment for up to two years.
In addition, a new article will be added to the Criminal Code: insulting a police officer or disobeying their lawful demands for the third time will become a criminal offense. This is punishable by up to one year of imprisonment, and for a repeat — up to two years.
The changes will come into force after being signed by President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
