According to the intelligence service, «as a result of the conducted activities, two natives from one of the Central Asian countries were detained in Krasnoyarsk, who were preparing to detonate an improvised explosive device on the territory of the city synagogue». Precursors for making explosives and damaging elements were seized from a cache they equipped in one of the abandoned buildings.
In addition, in Pyatigorsk, a citizen of Russia was detained, who planned to set fire to the building of the Jewish religious community using Molotov cocktails. He was also seized with two knives and communication devices containing correspondence with a foreign coordinator in the Telegram messenger, the security forces claim.
Criminal cases have been initiated against the detainees under the article on preparation for a terrorist attack.
Earlier, the intelligence service reported on the suppression of the activities of a total of four members of a banned international terrorist organization in Russia, who were preparing terrorist attacks using improvised bombs, firearms, and cold weapons against synagogues in Moscow. During the arrests, the terrorists resisted with weapons and were eliminated by return fire, the FSB stated.
