The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Altai reported the initiation of a criminal case on public calls for terrorist activities against a resident of Gorno-Altaysk. The name is not disclosed in the report, but according to activist Evgenia Tokorokova, it concerns Aruna Arna*, who was detained in the morning. Tokorokova clarified that she herself is a witness in this case.
According to the department, Arna published videos in a Telegram channel that, according to expert conclusions, contained "calls of a terrorist nature." In the morning, searches were conducted at the woman's and her mother's homes, then she was detained for 48 hours and sent to a temporary detention facility. Searches were also conducted at several activists' homes, and all equipment and bank cards were seized by law enforcement.
Aruna Arna is a mother of many children, a dancer, a lawyer, and an activist from the Republic of Altai. She has previously faced multiple administrative cases, threats, and searches with equipment seizures. In August, she was added to the registry of "terrorists and extremists."
In recent months, residents of Altai have protested against a municipal reform that effectively eliminates local self-government. Arna openly criticized these changes and collected signatures to express no confidence in the regional head. According to SOTAvision**, the activist was supposed to fly to Moscow this morning to deliver thousands of signatures for the resignation of Governor Andrey Turchak.
* Listed as a "terrorist and extremist."
** Recognized as a "foreign agent" in Russia.
