US President Donald Trump, before meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Washington highly respects the struggle Ukraine is waging. At the same time, he believes that the war will continue for a long time.
Trump stated that NATO countries can shoot down Russian planes that enter their airspace. When asked if he still trusts Vladimir Putin, the US president replied that he would talk about it 'in about a month'.
'The greatest progress is that the Russian economy is now in a terrible state. As you know, it is collapsing. And, frankly, Ukraine is doing very well in stopping this very large army,' he noted, adding that for Russia, the war against Ukraine was supposed to be quick, but now Moscow's achievements do not look outstanding.
Trump also suggested that Hungarian President Viktor Orban might refuse to purchase Russian energy resources, although Budapest previously stated that it would not take such a step.
Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, announced the liberation of 360 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory over the past month and the encirclement of a thousand Russian soldiers by the Ukrainian army, whom Ukraine subsequently hopes to exchange for captured Ukrainians.
