Special service officers prevented an assassination attempt on the head of a defense-industrial complex enterprise in St. Petersburg, reports TASS.
According to the special service, employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine recruited three St. Petersburg residents via the internet: a 31-year-old hairdresser, a 32-year-old groomer, and a 19-year-old unemployed man. Then the women 'equipped a cache' at the Volkovo Cemetery and placed a homemade explosive device among the graves.
That same night, the third 'saboteur' retrieved the device. According to the FSB, for disguise, the young man dressed as a grandmother: he put on a skirt, rubber boots, tied a scarf, and armed himself with a cane. In this guise, he made his way to the 'object's' home address until morning, and then attached the IED under the car.
All three were detained, and they gave confessions. Criminal cases have been initiated under articles on preparation for a terrorist attack and illegal trafficking of explosives or explosive devices.
