69-year-old Nikolai Statkevich, who refused to leave Belarus after his release, was found in a high-security correctional colony No. 13 in the village of Glubokoye, writes the publication «Nasha Niva» citing a source.
Statkevich was taken to the «Glubokoye Prison», where he had previously served his sentence. Relatives of the politician received information that the man «sits in a solitary confinement cell, which is regularly alternated with SHIZO». He is deprived of the right to calls, meetings, and parcels.
On September 11, former presidential candidate Nikolai Statkevich, during an attempt to deport him from the country, broke the bus door and went to the neutral zone between Belarus and Lithuania. The man was taken by masked people and driven to an unknown location. Nothing was heard about him for three days.
Nikolai Statkevich is a Belarusian opposition politician, former presidential candidate, and leader of the «Narodnaya Hromada» party. He had been in custody since May 2020. He was sentenced to 14 years in a high-security colony.
