The 1st Eastern District Military Court sentenced a 37-year-old Khabarovsk resident to 15 years in prison on charges of 'terrorism propaganda', 'participation in the activities of a terrorist organization', 'desecration of grave monuments', and 'secret cooperation with a foreign organization', reported the regional prosecutor's office.
The first five years of imprisonment he will have to spend in prison, and the remaining term in a high-security colony.
According to the investigation, from February 2022 to August 2023, the defendant joined the 'Freedom of Russia' legion, recognized by Russian authorities as a terrorist organization, via the internet. Under the direction of a representative of the organization, he distributed leaflets 'demonstrating a negative attitude towards Russia' on the graves of war participants in Ukraine. The content of the leaflets is not disclosed.
Judging by the footage of the arrest published by the prosecutor's office, the case was initiated during the winter season. According to the court's website, the case was submitted for consideration in January 2025.
