The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on the night of August 21, Russian air defense systems shot down 49 Ukrainian drones in eight regions, annexed Crimea, and over the waters of the Black Sea.
The agency claims that 21 drones were shot down in the Rostov region. According to the acting governor of the region, Yuri Slyusar, the drones attacked Novoshakhtinsk, Kamensk, Donetsk, as well as the Millerovsky, Belokalitvinsky, and Tarasovsky districts.
In Novoshakhtinsk, as a result of the attack, a fire broke out at an industrial enterprise, the official added. At the same time, according to data from Astra*, a refinery was damaged.
In the Voronezh region, an energy facility was damaged, reported Governor Alexander Gusev. He did not specify which one, but noted that several villages were left without power. Russian Railways reported delays of several passenger trains "in connection with the incident on the Rossosh — Sokhranovka section," but by morning the movement had resumed. No casualties were reported.
The Ministry of Defense indicated that drones were also shot down in the Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, Tula, Kaluga, and Oryol regions. The authorities of these regions did not report any damage or casualties.
