In Russia, in July, it became known about 108 people sentenced to real terms in political cases, a list by name was published by The Insider. Among them are 55 Ukrainian prisoners of war, who were tried under “terrorist articles”, 51 of them were captured in the Kursk region and were effectively convicted for crossing the border with Russia.
Russian courts continue to issue sentences to the defenders of “Azovstal” in Mariupol, who surrendered and fall under the Geneva Convention as prisoners of war from the regular army, yet they are also charged with “terrorism”.
37 people were convicted in July on serious charges of terrorism, treason, and espionage.
Another 16 people were sentenced to real terms for posts, “desecration of symbols of military glory”, connections with “undesirable” and “extremist” organizations, and participation in protests.
