Activist from Yoshkar-Ola, Sergey Mamaev, is in a pre-trial detention center over a case of involvement in Navalny's headquarters for posts from the last two years about the politician, reported local journalist Alexey Seregin.
Some of the post dates coincide with the date of Alexey Navalny's death, the day of his funeral, and the anniversary of his death. Mamaev wrote short posts on VK about this and posted photos where he laid flowers at the memorial to the victims of political repression in Yoshkar-Ola.
The initiation of a criminal case against Mamaev for "participation in the activities of an extremist organization" became known on July 22, when a search was conducted at his home.
According to Alexey Seregin, the activist is charged with six episodes dated 2023-2025.
Mamaev faces a fine ranging from three hundred thousand to six hundred thousand rubles or a term of up to six years.
