The US informed G7 allies that they would not support a statement condemning the strike on Sumy, as they «want to continue negotiations with Moscow», writes Bloomberg.
Canada, which is chairing the G7 this year, informed allies that without US approval, it would be impossible to adopt this statement, according to agency sources.
In the document, as noted by the agency, the G7 wanted to emphasize that the attack on Sumy on April 13, which resulted in 35 deaths and 119 injuries, is evidence of Russia's desire to continue the war.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, a day after the attack on Sumy, stated that the strike was carried out with two Iskander-M missiles on the «meeting place of the command staff of the operational-tactical group 'Seversk'». Russian military claims that more than 60 Ukrainian soldiers were killed as a result of the attack. However, no confirmations were provided.
According to «Suspilne», Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, with the cabinet approving the dismissal. Yesterday, Artyukh effectively confirmed the awarding of military personnel in Sumy on the eve of the April 13 strike, as reported by Ukrainian sources, but stated that he was not the initiator.
