He went to war from prison, where he was serving time for theft and robbery, now he may go to fight again instead of serving a sentence for double murder

A resident of the Krasnoyarsk region received 19 years in a high-security prison for the murder of his girlfriend and her mother, the regional prosecutor's office reported.

According to the investigation, in October last year, the 32-year-old suspect, in a state of alcohol intoxication, decided to confront his ex-girlfriend, who had left him and moved to live with her mother. He took a canister of gasoline and set fire to the house where the girl lived with her mother, knowing they were inside. The house quickly caught fire, and both victims died from carbon monoxide poisoning and burn shock.

The court found the man guilty of murder and destruction of someone else's property. In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to pay 2 million rubles to the sister and daughter of the deceased as compensation for moral damages.

Previously, the man had been repeatedly convicted of theft and robbery. In 2021, he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison, but he received a pardon by enlisting in the PMC "Wagner".

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old resident of the Altai region received just a year less — 18 years in prison — in a case of attempted arson of a military enlistment office. The first three years he will spend in prison, the remaining term — in a high-security colony. At the same time, no arson occurred, there were no victims or property damage.

In two and a half years of full-scale war, more than 500 people have become victims of those returning from the war, calculated "Verstka"*. The main risk group turned out to be relatives and acquaintances of participants in the invasion of Ukraine. Most of the victims are women.
